Piano Pedagogy Course

Introducing and teaching Béla Bartók’s Mikrokosmos
by Anikó NOVÁK

The Bartók Mikrokosmos is still one of the most significant and defining piano materials in the world. Although in almost every piano school it is part of the compulsory repertoire, sometimes teachers and students do not really understand how to use in the way Bartók intended to, and they find the music difficult and unfamiliar. In this course, I would like to give an insight into the 6 volumes by selecting one or two pieces from each book as different examples. I would like to present Bartók’s colourful, playful but at the same time deeply emotional masterpieces from a different approach.
